The Israeli company Massivit released a new large-format additive system that prints with viscous photopolymer gels and is capable of building two products simultaneously, being also equipped with a real-time quality control system.

Like the rest of Massivit 3D printers, the 5000 relies on proprietary Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP) technology. The process is somewhat similar to FDM printing, but instead of polymer melting, the heads apply high-viscosity photopolymer gels, which are immediately cured by built-in ultraviolet emitters. For the most part, such additive systems are used in the manufacture of promotional products, large-scale mockups, and molding equipment.

The new 3D printer is equipped with two heads, being obviously an upgraded version of the dual-extruder flagship Massivit 1800 with a similar build volume of 1450 x 1110 x 1800 mm and an emphasis on increasing productivity and 3D printing resolution. The Massivit 5000 is capable of not only printing two different materials but also building two products at once.

To increase production flexibility, the new system can work in two modes — either fast with rather thick layers of 1.5 millimeters, or in enhanced detail mode with 0.5 layers. The print speed of the machine reaches 300 mm/s. Additionally, the 3D printer is equipped with a real-time parameter adjustment system using machine vision.
