The Swedish company ZYYX Labs has launched the ZYYX Pro II desktop FDM 3D printer — quiet, equipped with an air filtration system, and optimized for working with composite carbon- and glass-filled filaments. Last year, a similar model called the E2CF was released by Raise3D. We wrote about it here.
“Many of our customers have expressed a need to be able to produce prototypes in a simpler way in their office environment without having to build a soundproof printer room with extraction. We have designed key components in ZYYX Pro II for the printer to be as quiet as possible. Using our composites, designers can quickly and iteratively produce functional prototypes or produce high-strength parts for production lines at an affordable cost. ZYYX Pro II will occupy a specific niche — simple, reliable, and efficient 3D printing with advanced composite materials. Users can also print with simpler consumables such as PLA, ASA, or FLEX. The Pro II is a versatile machine that we are pleased to offer to the global market,” explained Tomas Bengtsson, CEO of ZYYX Labs.
The desktop system with a build area of 285 x 235 x 210 mm and a print speed of up to 200 mm/s is equipped with one print head with the BondTech LGX extruder. SwiftTool swappable modular hotends feature silicone thermal insulation of the heating blocks and are available with a 0.2 mm nozzle for printing with pure polymers and in a specialized version for working with highly abrasive composites. The latter is equipped with nozzles made of hardened steel with a diameter of 0.4, 0.6, or 1.2 mm. Besides, the company promises to add a high-temperature version heating up to 450 °C for refractory engineering thermoplastics such as polyetheretherketone (PEEK) or polyetherimide (PEI, Ultem).
The device features auto bed leveling and a filament runout sensor. The hotend and build chamber heat up to 275 °C and 60 °С respectively, printing is carried out on a flexible removable MagFlex plate. The beds are available in three versions: one for working with "common" plastics such as PLA or PETG, another is specifically designed for nylon-based materials, and the third perforated one is meant for printing ABS, ASA, elastomers, and other materials with pronounced shrinkage.
The supply package includes a bag with a desiccant and vacuum pump to protect unused filament from moisture and dust. A massive cooling unit with activated carbon and HEPA filters is installed on the back of the device. The power supply delivers 500W; the system is equipped with quiet Noctua and Arctic fans used in gaming computers, as well as TMC2209 drivers, so the noise level does not exceed 38 dB.
The company offers a selection of branded consumables, but the system is also compatible with third-party filaments. The proprietary materials include polyamide with carbon- and glass-filled filaments based on it, PETG in pure and carbon-filled form, as well as PLA, ABS, ASA, and FLEX.
The standard software is the Simplify3D slicer; the connectivity includes USB, Ethernet, and an SD card reader. It is possible to install an optional webcam.
ZYYX Pro II 3D printers are offered at a selling price of €4,495.
