Hi Habr! Just noticed that this funny article exists only in Russian, so I’ve decided to translate it to English with some light modifications. Please enjoy!
Few days ago Tesla Cybertruck replica has been spotted on the roads of Moscow. The design of the electric pickup presented by Elon Musk can't be confused with anything else.
Unfortunately the replica isn’t an electric vehicle at all. It was made from scratch and is based on the body of the Russian car VAZ 2109. The real electric pickup was on the roads only once when Elon Musk used it to get to the restaurant in Malibu. Let's hope that the vehicle will be a good Christmas surprise for him.
Some websites have already published the history of the project – journalists even took a small interview with the authors. It has appeared that the vehicle was created by the team of Russian YouTubers Pushka Garage which is widely known among car lovers.
By the way, other Russian and Western geeks are busy crafting their own unique versions of the original model. So more Cybertrucks (replicas of course) are on their way!
As for Russian project, it was created by four auto mechanics. It took almost 8 days to make the replica and cost 80,000 roubles including the VAZ. The engine of the car is ICE (internal combustion engine). Its total capacity is just 1.6 liters and the gearbox is manual. Replica's body are made from metal sheets and polycarbonate instead of glass.
Well, this is the first replica in the Russian Federation. Now it’s available on Auto.ru website for 666,666 rubles. A bunch of money isn't it?
Project creators are waiting for Elon Musk feedback. They’ve made this car just for fun and in hopes to attract attention of wider audience to their other projects.
Real Cybertruck was announced only one month ago – on 22nd of November. It is not available yet but you can preorder it for $100. Sadly, you’d have to wait for your car until 2021 when manufacturing will start.
