The tracking status 'product not trackable' may be displayed for international items including:
- Registered Post International
- Express Post International letters
- international air mail
- all international articles under 2kg (excluding Pack and Track International and ePacket)
These services do not come with tracking as a standard feature; therefore no track events will be shown. However, for Registered Post International, a signature will be obtained when the item is delivered.
The move comes amid growing concern over an imbalance in shipping fees that puts US merchants at a competitive disadvantage against foreign retailers.
The Postal Service said the change is being made to improve the profitability of import Registered Mail items (those rates are governed by the Universal Postal Union, not the USPS) and to encourage international posts to shift their items from the import Registered Mail stream to the import ePacket product (whose rates are negotiated between international postal services).
USA – Registered Letter Mail
The designated operator of USA, USPS, has informed that from 1 October 2015, online tracking and delivery information for registered letter mail sent from Singapore to USA will not be visible or available on USPS website www.usps.com. Hence, tracking information is only available up to «Arrival at Destination Post» on SingPost website.
Customers in Singapore can raise enquiry with SingPost if the addressee confirms non-receipt of the Registered Article after 18 working days from posting. SingPost will check with the USPS on the status of the item, and under the international postal agreement, USPS may take up to 60 days to reply to SingPost.
