Let’s take a look at QA hiring dynamics across traditional vs. AI roles over the past six months.

How can you be the first to know about a job opening before it hits job boards?
By checking primary sources daily.
Every day, AI agents from Mentorpiece Vacy – a job monitoring system – scan the career sites and ATS platforms of thousands of tech companies directly for fresh openings.
Millions of records on job opening and closing dates for every tech role across a fixed cohort of thousands of companies enable the automatic calculation of the ⚡️Mentorpiece Vacy Index. This is a monthly Tech Hiring Activity Index that provides an unvarnished analytical view of the tech industry’s health and the rise or fall in demand for specific tech roles.

% of tech companies with open Manual QA roles (March → September):
14.1% → 9.5% — a 33% drop

% of tech companies with open Automation QA and Senior QA roles (March → September):
18.6% → 17.5% – a 6% drop

% of tech companies with open AI QA / ML Evaluation roles (March → September):
3.9% → 5.1% — a 31% increase

Manual QA roles are dropping sharply (-33%) and Automation QA modestly (-6%), as demand shifts toward AI-focused roles (+31%).
Keep in mind, though, that AI roles are growing from a low baseline—meaning that in absolute numbers, traditional QA positions are shrinking faster than new AI roles are being added.

What does the future hold for tech hiring?
