U.S.-based 3D Systems released two updated versions of their Geomagic reverse engineering software: Geomagic Design X and Geomagic Wrap. Both programs work with scanned data and feature various innovative capabilities. They are designed to streamline workflows and provide quality, high-precision models made from 3D scans.

Radhika Krishnan, Executive Vice President at 3D Systems, said that their most comprehensive reverse engineering solution features a wide range of best-in-class products. Robust scan processing and ability to design CAD models is essential for speeding up product development.

He added: “With the new features we are introducing today, designers and manufacturers who have incorporated our reverse engineering products into their end-to-end workflow will be able to achieve unmatched speed and accuracy. Chinese 3D printer maker Creality has announced the release of a highly-capable, cost-effective 3D scanner that is brand new.

The CR-Scan 01, Creality's newest scanning solution is a user-friendly device that nevertheless boasts premium specifications, and can capture details as small as 0.1mm of size. Because of its flexible settings, multiple-purpose abilities, and expanded scanning range, the device is very easy to use, while offering impressive accuracy and affordability.

Created by Hungarian manufacturer CraftUnique, the CraftBot Flow IDEX XL is a large-format FDM 3D printer equipped with an independent dual extruder (IDEX). The device is aimed at designers, artists, engineers, and architects who want to create large professional prints for artistic, functional, or prototyping needs.

The build chamber of the machine has dimensions of 425 x 250 x 500 mm, providing users with a potential volume of 56 liters. The IDEX system, in which two all-metal hotends are placed in two separate print heads, allows the extruders to freely move along the X-axis. Thanks to the maximum nozzle temperature of 300 °C, the CraftBot Flow IDEX XL is compatible with an array of tough thermoplastics like ABS, Nylon, PETG, and PVA.

The majority of the functions including filament loading/unloading can be accessed via a full-color 5" touch screen located on the front panel. The connectivity options of the device include USB, Wi-Fi, and a cloud. In addition, the printer boasts a built-in camera that allows creating timelapses and controlling the machine remotely, as well as a filament runout sensor to pause printing and continue the process with the other extruder.

Chinese 3D printer manufacturer (headquartered in San Diego) UNIZ known for its high-speed resin 3D printers, announced its new incredibly fast dental device.

This is the UNIZ NBEE, and this device offers high levels of accuracy and is very reliable on top of its impressive speed. The device targets the dental field and offers a build volume of 192 × 120 × 180 mm, allowing it to print various-sized dental products: from aligners to surgical guards. 

The main selling point of the machine is its speed: at 280 mm/h it’s the fastest device offered by UNIZ. It allows the machine to print 6 average-sized dental models in just 5 minutes. The UNIZ Dental software is also a fast slicer. 

EvoLogics is a company that makes Quadroin autonomous underwater drones designed for research of whirlpools and phytoplankton.The cases and components of these devices are produced using 3D printing technologies, and drones act as a swarm of fish. .

For one of its most recent design concepts, the renowned Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Italy has sought the assistance of large-format 3D printer manufacturer WASP.

The set design was made for Daniel Auber's 1830 opera Fra Diavolo (Brother Devil). A tale of intrigue and tragic love, the scenes are played out before distorted buildings like those from surrealistic paintings by Salvador Dali.

WASP has concluded a partnership with fitness equipment manufacturer Technogym, which uses a Delta WASP 4070 Industrial 4.0 3D printer for prototyping its new equipment for fitness. (This model also has an improved version called Delta WASP 4070 Industrial X that features considerably higher print speeds.)

Technogym purchased the printer in order to reduce its maintenance costs and enable the creation of large prototype parts. "We chose the Delta WASP 4070 INDUSTRIAL 4.0 system for many reasons, one of the most important is certainly its large print volume feasibility," Technogym explained. "We also appreciate its printing speed and the much lower cost of support-materials, which allows us to buy more material spools and make more tests."

Italian company WASP (abbreviation for World’s Advanced Saving Project) offers the Delta WASP 4070 TECH 3D printer designed for printing with technopolymers such as PEEK thermoplastic and featuring a high-temp build chamber that heats up to 300 °C. The system is referred to by WASP as a “new technical jewel,” and rightly so.

Novokuznetsk-based Russian startup Scanform will get 4 million rubles (around $51,000) for further development and integration of the industrial hardware and software systems of computer vision. It will be used for digitizing geometries of physical objects. The company won a competition as a part of the “Start-1” program by FASIE.
