Shining 3D is a Chinese company focused on 3D digitizing solutions. Founded in 2014, the company is one of the pioneers of the field. They mainly release 3D scanners, although the company’s portfolio is larger than just that. In 2019, Shining 3D partnered with 3D Systems, another 3D technologies pioneer, to bundle Shining 3D scanners with Geomagic Essentials scanning software solution. In that year, the EinScan Pro 2X series of 3D scanners by Shining 3D came with the program. 

Geomagic Essentials is a powerful scan-to-CAD and reverse engineering solution. It offers a streamlined experience while offering a sizable set of features. 

The program’s new version, V2, was recently released. Let’s see what’s new. 

1. Trim Mesh with Plane/Curve option

Chinese 3D printer manufacturer (headquartered in San Diego) UNIZ known for its high-speed resin 3D printers, announced its new incredibly fast dental device.

This is the UNIZ NBEE, and this device offers high levels of accuracy and is very reliable on top of its impressive speed. The device targets the dental field and offers a build volume of 192 × 120 × 180 mm, allowing it to print various-sized dental products: from aligners to surgical guards. 

The main selling point of the machine is its speed: at 280 mm/h it’s the fastest device offered by UNIZ. It allows the machine to print 6 average-sized dental models in just 5 minutes. The UNIZ Dental software is also a fast slicer. 

EvoLogics is a company that makes Quadroin autonomous underwater drones designed for research of whirlpools and phytoplankton.The cases and components of these devices are produced using 3D printing technologies, and drones act as a swarm of fish. .

For one of its most recent design concepts, the renowned Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Italy has sought the assistance of large-format 3D printer manufacturer WASP.

The set design was made for Daniel Auber's 1830 opera Fra Diavolo (Brother Devil). A tale of intrigue and tragic love, the scenes are played out before distorted buildings like those from surrealistic paintings by Salvador Dali.

WASP has concluded a partnership with fitness equipment manufacturer Technogym, which uses a Delta WASP 4070 Industrial 4.0 3D printer for prototyping its new equipment for fitness. (This model also has an improved version called Delta WASP 4070 Industrial X that features considerably higher print speeds.)

Technogym purchased the printer in order to reduce its maintenance costs and enable the creation of large prototype parts. The machine proved to be a great tool that shortens lead times, especially for large components. "We chose the Delta WASP 4070 INDUSTRIAL 4.0 system for many reasons, one of the most important is certainly its large print volume feasibility," Technogym explained. "We also appreciate its printing speed and the much lower cost of support-materials, which allows us to buy more material spools and make more tests."

Italian company WASP (abbreviation for World’s Advanced Saving Project) offers the Delta WASP 4070 TECH 3D printer designed for printing with technopolymers such as PEEK thermoplastic and featuring a high-temp build chamber that heats up to 300 °C. The system is referred to by WASP as a “new technical jewel,” and rightly so.

(The idea of using a dedicated cooling system for increasing print speed is not new. Uniz claimed to achieve the print speed of up to 200mm/hr back in 2019 with their Slash 2 3D printer).

Novokuznetsk-based Russian startup Scanform will get 4 million rubles (around $51,000) for further development and integration of the industrial hardware and software systems of computer vision. It will be used for digitizing geometries of physical objects. The company won a competition as a part of the “Start-1” program by FASIE.

Italian sculptor and artist Andrea Salvatori has utilized his Delta WASP 40100 Clay 3D printer to create a variety of ikebana vases.

Ikebana refers to the Japanese art of flower arrangement that demonstrates the skill of a person who is practicing it. Salvatori drew inspiration from this disciplined art form to illustrate the inherent conflict between machine and human creation.

In this case, the artist has deliberately created a flawed design that disrupts accurate 3D prints of vessels with spherical ceramic inserts. Salvatori called his creation "Ikebana Rock'n'Roll".

Headquartered in Shanghai, INTAMSYS (INTelligent Additive Manufacturing SYStems) is one of the leading companies providing high-performance AM equipment, consumables, and software. It was founded by a team of experienced engineers who had conducted a great deal of research to be fully versed in high-tech equipment. The manufacturer has managed to establish a complete system of marketing and after-sales service that covers both Europe and the United States. INTAMSYS focuses on electronic manufacturing, aerospace, consumer products, automotive, scientific research, medical, and other industries, engaging in a variety of production activities — from functional prototyping to customized serial production.

The Polish company Sinterit has announced a new 3D printer based on selective laser powder sintering (SLS) technology. The Lisa X system features increased usable volume and ten times the performance of the previous Lisa Pro.

The new additive system is designed primarily for 3D printing with polyamide-12 powder with a vertical construction speed of up to 14 mm/h. It will take about 30 hours to process the whole build volume of 130 x 170 x 330 mm.

“Our third generation compact SLS 3D printer is made to speed up your innovation. We are still focused on delivering a whole SLS 3D printing solution, to make additive manufacturing useful and meaningful. With Lisa X this experience will be even better – faster prints and a bigger print volume answers the most common demands of the market,” commented Maxime Polesello, CEO of Sinterit.

The Israeli company Massivit released a new large-format additive system that prints with viscous photopolymer gels and is capable of building two products simultaneously, being also equipped with a real-time quality control system.
